Projected Infections

  1. 81% of the USA's population is projected to be infected at some point.
  2. If we apply that same estimate globally we obtain the following projections.

Emergency Symptoms

Review the Apple Screening Tool

  1. Severe, constant chest pain or pressure
  2. Extreme difficulty breathing
  3. Severe, constant lightheadedness
  4. Serious disorientation or unresponsiveness

Call 911 immediately if you exhibit or experience any of the four symptoms above.

Anti-Viral Substances

If you run short on hand-sanitizer:

Copper, Silver, and Zinc (ordered by strongest anti-viral properties first) apparently have limited to strong anti-viral properties.

Do not forgo recommended procedures like washing your hands with regular soap for at least 20 seconds. However, also using Copper (in addition to hand-soap) may reduce the presence of the virus through "contact killing" (see articles above).

Clothing and Apparel

I've said that the clothing, textiles, and apparel industries will be upended by "smart" clothing that has the following features:

  1. Not digital but chemical/material.
  2. Cut and abrasion resistant.
  3. Involving new anti-viral chemicals.
  4. Involves anti-viral materials like copper (see above).
  5. Will provide kinetic resistance (be bullet-proof).
  6. Made of new eco-friendly but advanced polymers/materials (like newish Dyneema fabrics).

It's exciting to see the wave of innovation beginning to arise in more traditional industries - after COVID-19, almost all clothing, blankets, sheets, towels, textiles, etc. will likely be replaced with "smart-wear" of the kind above. These innovations will save lives, generate billions of dollars in value, and be a partial but viable answer to manifestations of homegrown violence that have become all-too-common.

Cause

Likely consumed bat meat from an unregulated meat-market in Wuhan, China:

  1. The National Review
  2. Time
  3. CNN

Conditions:

  1. Were extremely unsanitary.
  2. Involved living animals living right next to their butchered kin and in their own waste.
  3. Were high-human traffic in terms of customer and visitor throughput.
  4. Involved hundreds of random, rare, and bizarre animal species being confined to a small space.

This demonstrates the near-complete lack of food-related regulation in Communist China. As a South Korean-American vegetarian I am appalled.

Many other major viruses have (likely) come from bizarre unregulated, raw ("wet"), meat markets like the one in Wuhan:

  1. Ebola spawned from villagers eating various kinds of monkeys.
  2. SARS likely came from a "wet" meat-market as well.
  3. HIV/AIDS was spread from human consumption of monkeys.

A major, global, effort should be undertaken to more closely regulate these kinds of meat-markets! This is at least the third major pandemic to originate from them!

Cross-Species Transmission

Given the cross-transmission (from bats, likely, to humans), there's a very real threat that the virus will eventually mutate and become transmittable to other species:

  1. Human-to-Cat infections have been reported.
  2. Human-to-Dog infections have been reported.

This is deeply troubling. The Spanish Flu of 1918 came in three waves. We're likely to see the same thing with COVID-19. If cross-species transmission occurs, the number of waves or repeat infections could be much worse.

Long-term Worries

  1. As many as 30 independent strains of COVID-19 have emerged.
  2. There's a second major outbreak likely in Winter 2020.

Solutions

The military, in partnership with MIT, created DRACO a fully general vaccine effective against all known variants of the coronavirus family back in 2011.

Terrorism

The Department of Justice and the FBI have announced:

  1. They will kill: anyone who attempts COVID-19 related terrorism.
  2. They will bring terror charges: against anyone who deliberately attempts to spread COVID-19.
  3. And, anyone who threatens: to use COVID-19 in an act of violence or retaliation.
